Make a skincare routine for a variety of oily & sensitive skin

Daisy and Charlene have combination sensitive skin and skincare routine are looking for the right products to reduce the excess sebum on their T-zone, minimize blemishes (whiteheads, small bumps, and blackheads), moisturize their skin, and decrease their skin’s sensitivity.

Targets :

Lack of moisture, excess sebum, whiteheads & blackheads, uneven skin texture, sensitivity

Four rules are essential to minimize blemishes, large pores, and excess sebum and get beautiful skin: use a gentle, non-drying cleanser, use appropriate anti-trouble products with zinc or salicylic acid, avoid animal ingredients, and use the right moisturizer.

1) Cotton pads and makeup wipes:

Cotton pads and makeup wipes are convenient for removing makeup after a tiring day, but rubbing your skin too much will only increase sensitivity and lead to irritation. Using a cleansing oil to remove it takes a little bit longer, but the results are worth it: no irritation, moisturized and smooth skin, tighter pores, and fewer blemishes in the long term. One of my favorite cleansing oils is the Laneige Fresh Brightening Cleansing Oil. Not only does it moisturize the skin, but it also soothes it. The Hera Purifying Cleansing Oil is also a great choice as it deep cleanses pores.

2) A mousse-type cleanser

It is the best option for sensitive skin, as its texture is less likely to irritate and dry out the skin. The Mamonde Rose Water Cleansing Foam, the Hera Silky Cleansing Mousse, and the Su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick are three excellent cleansers for all skin types, including sensitive ones.

3) Toners help

Toners help balance your skin’s balance your skin’s pH levels, but they can also do much more. I find using an anti-trouble and moisturizing toner more effective than just using one. The Laneige Trouble Relief Toner and the Hera Aquabolic Balancing Toner effectively reduce excess sebum, whiteheads, and blackheads, while the Mamonde Rose Water Toner soothes, brightens, and moistens the skin. The Hera Cell-Essence is also a great alternative, containing purifying, moisturizing, soothing, brightening, and anti-aging ingredients. It also strengthens the skin, making it less sensitive. Combination skin should use an anti-trouble toner on their problematic areas only (T-zone most of the time).

4) To reduce skin troubles:

A BHA serum is often the best solution. BHA (salicylic acid) is a multifunctional ingredient for troubled skin. It minimizes excess sebum, blackheads, whiteheads, and pores, and it also improves collagen production and barrier function. The Paula Choice 2% BHA Liquid and the Cosrx BHA Power Liquid are two excellent choices and that even works with problematic skin. Just like with toners, combination skin should use a BHA serum only on its problematic areas.

5) A moisturizing serum:

A moisturizing serum or very lightweight oil-free gel like the Mamonde Rose Water Soothing Gel is great for all skin types and isOf how to maintain skin‘s moisture content without blocking the pores, especially in a hot/humid environment. If you’re looking for an anti-aging moisturizing serum, the Su:m37 Secret Programming Essence is a great choice of skincare routine.

6) Using a lightweight or an oil-free moisturizer:

skincare routine is the best way to avoid clogged pores and blemishes. The Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream and the Laneige Trouble Relief Cream are incredible for oily, acne-prone skin as they contain purifying ingredients. The Hera Omnifocus Cell Bio Cream and the Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream are a little bit richer and great for all skin types, especially combination skin or oily (but non-acne-prone) skin.

7) Glycolic acid:

At night, two to three times a week, people with troubled skin can use AHA (glycolic acid) to smooth their skin’s texture, even out and brighten their skin tone, reduce their acne scars, and, of course, visibly reduce acne. The Cosrx AHA 7 Whitehead Power is a great serum, though I slightly prefer the Paula Choice 5% AHA Daily Resist.

    8) Including oil in your nighttime skincare routine

It isn’t a bad idea; on the contrary, it can sometimes provide excellent results even if you have oily or acne-prone skin. Rosehip Oil is by far my favorite oil, as it is somehow a miracle ingredient against acne, fine lines, wrinkles, and more. You can mix a drop or two in your moisturizer or apply a few drops directly to your skin before your moisturizer.

How to deal with blackheads and whiteheads when you have a dry, sensitive skin type

When you have a dry skin type, having blackheads or blemishes can be confusing as it mostly happens to combination and oily skin. Using products formulated for oily and acne-prone skin can often make things worse. Thus, dry skin should be meticulously moisturized by using non-drying products and moisturizing it well. I have dry, sensitive skin with blackheads and super large pores on the nose & cheeks. I don’t have a single drop of sebum on my face, meaning my skin is drier than the Sahara. I managed to get rid of my deep blackheads and large pores very quickly by introducing the Cosrx BHA Blackhead Serum and the Paula Choice 5% AHA Daily Resist (similar to Cosrx AHA 7 Whitehead) into my daily skincare routine. I also added the Mamonde Micro Lotus Mud Clay Wash-off Mask once a week, and voila. No more blackheads and tiny pores.

When a new skincare product makes things worse

Stop using it if your skin doesn’t improve after a week, but don’t throw it away. Check the ingredient list and find the culprit by comparing it with another skincare product your skin loves. You can also use the product on another area of your body, like your neck, arms, or knees.

How to brighten your skin, even out your skin tone, and reduce your freckles

Niacinamide and Glycolic Acid are the answer to your prayers. As someone with extremely dull skin, I swear by skin-brightening products. Ninety percent of my beauty closet contains skin-lightening serums, toners, and more, and I know exactly which ones work the best and which ones are definitely not worth it.

The Hera White Program Bio Effector is the best serum to lighten & brighten uneven skin tone. The brightening results are visible in less than a week, and the skin lightening results are visible in less than two months. It may cost an arm, but a little goes a long way. One bottle will last around one and a half years, even when used twice daily. The Hera White Program Powder Ampoule is another It is ideal for people who want to diminish their freckles and spot marks. freckles and spots scars. It’s a six-week whitening program formulated to remove visible and hidden freckles. I showered the White Program line with love here; check it out if you’d like to know more about the best skin-lightening serums on the Korean market.

Another brightening line I like is the Su:m37 White Award. I own the whole line, and even though I don’t find it as powerful (in terms of skin-lightening results) as the White Program line, most products, like the Spot Essence EX, are truly excellent. The White Award Ampoule In Cream is very lightweight and won’t clog pores, making it perfect for oily skin.

Paula Choice 10% Weekly AHA Treatment is my favorite weekly leave-on exfoliator. It is powerful but gentle enough for most skin types (except susceptible ones). I ditched manual exfoliators (with beads) last year, and the results chemical exfoliators provide are much more impressive. A few months ago, I got an evil spider bite on my chin, leaving me with a huge scar. The glycolic acid quickly got rid of it within a month.
